Chapter 6: Look over your shoulder

The next night

MC: Ugnn… Was I off today? How long was I sleeping? *knock knock* Yes?

Martini: We’re coming in.

Emerald Mist: You seem okay.

MC: Did something happen?

Martini: Hell yeah something happened! You passed out and we were wondering what the hell went wrong

MC:…I remember. After the test finished, I suddenly felt this rush

Emerald Mist: Maybe your body was accustomed to a sedative lifestyle until now

MC:…maybe

Martini: I was expecting more of a comeback to that

MC: No, I think that’s exactly what it was. I’ve never had to try that hard at anything in my life before.

Martini: Hmph, the way I see it, I wouldn’t exactly call that working hard, but maybe you’ve been working hard in your own way

Emerald Mist: You really should compensate for all the activity you’ve been lacking. Time only flows in one direction. And right now, you are still at the starting line. Prepare yourself for more problems and situations that can come up when you work from now on.

MC: Right…

Martini: There’s no point in learning all those cocktail recipes if you’re just going to faint again.

Emerald Mist: Right, and if you can’t work, then we have no use for you.

MC: Ha, true.

Martini: Work starts tomorrow.

Emerald Mist: You only have today to rest.

MC: Thanks, you two.

Martini: …

Emerald Mist: Whenever you speak to me so carelessly, your tone grows sour. Get some rest.

Martini: See ya

MC: I guess I’ve grown now that I’m able to speak to them so casually.

Tom Collins: If you’re awake, I’d like to tell you something

MC: Yeah, I’m up

Tom Collins: Thank goodness. You look okay

Moulin Rouge: I’m here too.

MC: Everyone’s really worried.

Tom Collins: Everyone? Did someone else come besides us?

Moulin Rouge: Was it Martini and Emerald Mist, by chance? Guess we just barely missed them.

MC: Yeah, we were talking earlier.

Moulin Rouge: hm.. those two

Tom Collins: Well it goes without saying, everyone is worried about you.

MC: And here I was thinking it would be so hard to get on everyone’s good side. How strange

Tom Collins: I think they changed because of how hard you’ve been working.

MC: It seems like they’re not quite ready to admit it yet.

Moulin Rouge: Don’t you think they’ve admitted enough compared to when you first met them?

MC: When we first met… ah..

Martini: Tsk, you don’t fucking know anything do you? This is the kind of person who’s going to be our new bar master? This isn’t the type of bar I thought I would be working for.

Emerald Mist: Why did you decide for her to be the new master? Shouldn’t you give us some sort of explanation for this?

Tom Collins: You knew this is who the master had in mind for the job.

Emerald Mist: That isn’t an answer.

Martini: I don’t agree with this.

MC: Right, I could laugh at how much they’ve changed.

Tom Collins: You too. I think the master was the one happiest with your result’s today.

Moulin Rouge: After you fainted, he was trembling the most out of everyone.

Tom Collins: No matter what happens, you will always be his cute granddaughter.

Salty Dog: Ah! No fair!

MC: Salty Dog?

Salty Dog: Why are you guys seeing her without me? I told you I was really worried!

Tequila Sunrise: Hey, don’t be so noisy around her.

Moulin Rouge: I understand that you’re worried, but you shouldn’t enter a girl’s room without knocking first

Salty Dog: Yeah but… I heard you two talking from inside

Tequila Sunrise: It’s bad to just invite yourself in like that. But I am glad that the color has returned to her face.

MC: I’m sorry I made you worry.

Salty Dog: Yeah! You just fell all of a sudden.

Tequila Sunrise: Maybe you studied too much. How many hours of sleep did you get?

MC: Just a few….

Moulin Rouge: You really did work hard. How studious of you.

Tom Collins: We overstayed our welcome despite coming just to see how you were doing.

Tequila Sunrise: You had a fever while you were passed out. Get some rest.

Moulin Rouge: Good night, princess. Sweet dreams

Salty Dog: See ya! Sleep well!

MC: Thanks. Good night.
I was able to meet people like this who really care about me. I don’t know why I secluded myself so much back then. It’s a bit embarrassing when I think about it. I think I’m going to get some more sleep. And then I can prepare myself tomorrow.
